RFP #1738 New Housing Building (NHB) A & E Design Services

Description

PSU is proposing to construct a new housing building as set forth in this RFP (the “Project”). 

The proposed new building will be located on the site of the current Montgomery and Blackstone Buildings which will be demolished prior to construction.  The demolition design is not included in this proposal and will be designed by a separate design firm.  The new building is envisioned as an up to a seven-story building with approximately 170,000 gross square footage.  The new building will serve primarily as student housing for PSU students comprised of primarily single and double occupancy student rooms with the first floor being a mixture of common space, classrooms, building amenities and utility rooms.  PSU is not tied to any one building construction type but has done preliminary exploration of a five over two building structure with two levels of structural concrete with five levels of wood framing.  As part of the preliminary design process, the design team would be responsible to explore building materials/design types with an emphasis on a final design that prioritizes cost effectiveness, schedule, and quality. 

The new PSU Housing Building project is required to be fully open and operational prior to Fall Term 2028.
