Description

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System, Office for Facilities Support Services, on behalf of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) desires to procure professional engineering services and an associated project team to accomplish a switchgear upgrade/ replacement project at various buildings on their  main campus in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

The switchgear that is in place at the James S. Owen (JSO), Learning Resource Center (LRC), Science (SCI), and Academic Technical Building (ATB) has been there for decades and is approaching the end of their reliable life. At some point, the primary service that feeds all of these buildings will need replacement but is not considered a part of the initial scope of this project. In some cases, it may be more cost effective to modernize the current system, but there are some cases where it makes more sense to install new equipment that will lead to more long-term benefits. Many of the switchgear systems are reaching the end of their life and original manufacturers are no longer able to provide support with original parts.

The project will initially assume the sequence of completion of the switchgear in each building will be as follows: JSO, LRC, SCI and ATB. During Phase A of this project, the Engineer will be establishing the scope of work for each switchgear upgrade or replacement, the anticipated cost for each switchgear in each building and the timeline for completion of the project work. At the conclusion of Phase A the scope and timeline of the project will be established
