Description

Metro, acting by and through the appointed Metropolitan Exposition Recreation Commission (MERC), is requesting proposals for Venue Economic Impact Report for the MERC Venues.  Metro owns and/or operates the Oregon Convention Center, Oregon Zoo, Portland’5 Centers for the Arts and the Portland Expo Center. Managed through its department of Visitor Venues, the team collaborates on operational issues and actively works toward a common mission of maintaining world-class gathering and entertainment spaces for residents and visitors. The chief objective of this venue group is to maximize the fiscal, economic and community impacts of its operations throughout the Portland metropolitan region.

Metro operates these venues in a fiscally responsible manner to ensure that they produce vast economic and cultural benefits throughout the region and state, providing fiscal resources, educational programs and cultural events. The purpose of this study is to quantify these impacts in terms of tax revenues generated, direct/indirect spending induced, full-time equivalent jobs (FTE) created/supported, personal income generated, and community and educational resources provided in the tri-county metropolitan area.
