RFP 4206 Willamette Cove Site Master Plan Community Engagement

Description

Metro is seeking a firm to implement a public engagement process to involve impacted communities and partners in the planning of a future nature park at Willamette Cove. Impacted communities include Black, Indigenous, people of color, low-income, people living with disabilities, immigrant communities, people experiencing houselessness and other marginalized groups. 

Metro’s partners include Tribal Governments, conservation groups and community organizations. Willamette Cove’s location within a degraded, populated and ethnically and economically diverse stretch of the river in Portland heightens the importance that the master plan for the Willamette Cove Nature Park achieves the restoration of fish and wildlife habitat while simultaneously meeting the needs and aspirations of the local communities, especially historically and continually marginalized groups that have been negatively impacted and could benefit from the site. Nearly three decades after Metro acquired the site and more than two decades after Portland Harbor was listed on the Superfund National Priorities List, Tribal, partner, and community interest and expectations are high
